- “Whenever I Call You Friend” became Kenny Loggins’ first solo Top 40 hit after his three Billboard Top 40 songs with Jim Messina in 1972 and 1973. The duet with Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained on the chart for 15 weeks. Loggins later scored a total of 14 solo Top 40 hits.
