- Marshall Grant, American bassist and longtime member of Johnny Cash's backing group, died at the age of 83 from an aneurysm in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He played bass with Johnny Cash from 1954 to 1980, later managed The Statler Brothers and wrote the autobiography “I Was There When It Happened”.
