- Collectors from around the world gathered at Graceland in Memphis to bid on items and memorabilia associated with him as part of the 40th anniversary of Elvis Week. The August 12 auction sold 315 items for more than $1.6 million. All came from private collectors rather than the Graceland archives owned by Lisa Marie Presley.
- Forty years after his death, Elvis Presley reached No. 2 on the UK Official Albums Chart with the album “50 Greatest Hits”. It was his 52nd album to reach the UK Top 10. Glenn Campbell's final studio album, “Adios”, was at No. 3.
- The 2017 Elvis Candlelight Vigil attracted an estimated 50,000 to 60,000 people to Graceland.
- During Elvis Week 2017, a Candlelight Vigil was held at Elvis Presley's grave in Memphis. Lisa Marie Presley, her children and Priscilla Presley also attended to thank the fans.
- RCA and Legacy released the two-disc collection “Way Down in the Jungle Room,” featuring recordings Elvis Presley made in his home studio during the final 18 months of his life. The collection reached No. 16 in the UK and No. 79 on the U.S. Billboard 200.
- Elvis Presley Forever, the second US postage stamp featuring his likeness, was unveiled at Graceland, featuring a 1955 black-and-white portrait by photographer William Speer; it was part of the Music Icons series.
- Elvis Presley's recording sessions at Stax Records in Memphis were released together for the first time as “Elvis at Stax: Deluxe Edition.” The three-disc box set also contained alternate recordings and rare photographs from the July and December 1973 sessions and reached No. 70 on the UK album chart.
- Thousands of mourners paid tribute to Elvis Presley at his grave in Graceland on the 34th anniversary of his death. Flowers and wreaths were placed at the grave while his music played in the background.
- His estate announced a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Arista Music, formerly RCA Records, claiming that Elvis Presley had been unfairly exploited by his record company during his lifetime. It sought proper payment of revenues from new media such as ringtones, downloads and entertainment applications. On June 1, 2017, a court ruled in favor of Arista, stating that Presley had sold the rights to his songs to RCA Records in 1973 for $5.4 million and had been properly and fully compensated.
