Description

The film Detroit Rock City premiered in US cinemas. The story follows four young KISS fans trying to attend their favorite band's concert; the film was inspired by KISS and its fans and recalled the reunion of KISS's original lineup at the time.

    Tony Nicole of TNT Records filed a lawsuit against Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS over alleged intentional interference with drummer Peter Criss's contract with the record company. The lawsuit claimed that Simmons and Stanley persuaded Criss to breach his contract and rejoin the original lineup. The case was settled out of court shortly after it was filed under undisclosed terms.

    KISS performed at Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati, Ohio, during their Alive World Tour. During the concert, a fan threw his artificial leg onto the stage, and all the members signed it and returned it to him.

    The original members of KISS performed together for the first time since 1980 during the recording of the television special “MTV Unplugged”, when Peter Criss and Ace Frehley joined Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. The overwhelmingly positive fan response paved the way for the band’s official reunion tour in 1996, which saw the return of their signature costumes and makeup. The special was later released as the album “Kiss Unplugged”.
