The recording “Flying Saucer” by Bill Buchanan and Dickie Goodman reached No. 3 on the US chart after selling 500,000 copies in three weeks; it later surpassed one million copies sold. The comedy recording combined questions from radio reporters with excerpts from mid-1950s hits. Seventeen record companies filed copyright lawsuits, but the cases were dismissed after the court ruled that the parodies did not harm sales of the original recordings.
