American singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer Joe South died of a heart attack at his home in Georgia at the age of 72. He was known for his own hits “Games People Play” and “Walk a Mile in My Shoes,” and for writing “Hush” for Deep Purple, “Rose Garden” for Lynn Anderson and “Down in the Boondocks” for Billy Joe Royal.
