Bananarama took their version of "Venus" to No. 1 on the U.S. singles chart and achieved international fame. The song came from their third studio album, "True Confessions", and topped the charts in six countries. It was their first collaboration with the emerging production team Stock, Aitken and Waterman. The song was originally released as a single by the Dutch group Shocking Blue, who also took it to No. 1 in 1970.
