Pal Waaktaar-Savoy, also known as Pal Waaktaar, founding member, guitarist and songwriter of a-ha, was born in Norway. Sources give Oslo and Tonsenhagen as his birthplace. He wrote or co-wrote most of the group's biggest hits, including "Take On Me" and "The Sun Always Shines On TV". a-ha became the first Norwegian group to have a No. 1 hit in both the U.S. and UK.
