Kenneth (Kenny) Gamble was born in Philadelphia. With Leon A. Huff he created the distinctive Philadelphia soul sound of the 1970s, founded Philadelphia International Records and, according to the source, wrote and produced 175 gold and platinum records. Together they created major soul hits including “If You Don't Know Me By Now,” “Back Stabbers” and “Me and Mrs. Jones.”
