Cream drummer Ginger Baker collapsed during a concert at Sussex University in England after an approximately 20-minute drum solo in “Toad.” He was taken to a local hospital, where he recovered, and then continued touring with the band.
Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker and Eric Clapton formed the band Cream. Although the group existed for only two years, it made a significant mark on music history.
Cream’s third album “Wheels Of Fire” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart. The double album contained one studio-recorded disc and one live disc. It also reached No. 3 in the UK, while the lead single “White Room” reached No. 6 in the US and No. 28 in the UK.
Cream's single "Sunshine of Your Love" reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, while their third album, "Wheels of Fire", was at No. 1 on the Top LPs & Tape chart.
Cream began their farewell tour with a concert at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum in California. The tour included 22 concerts at 19 venues and ended on November 26 at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
