The head of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued a statement in response to Vice President Spiro Agnew's complaint that radio stations were broadcasting too many songs about drugs. He stated that songwriters were trying to help society understand and deal with its problems, rather than promote the distribution of heroin.
