Description
Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg's "Je t'aime… moi non plus" reached No. 1 on the UK singles chart. Because of its sexually explicit content and sounds, many radio stations, including the BBC, banned it. The producers of Top of the Pops refused, for the first time in the programme's history, to broadcast a song that had reached the top of the chart.
