- Ray Parker Jr. began a three-week run at No. 1 on the US singles chart with “Ghostbusters,” the title song from the film of the same name. The song also reached No. 1 in Belgium, Canada, France, South Africa and Spain. Parker was later accused of plagiarizing the melody of “I Want a New Drug” by Huey Lewis and the News, and the dispute was settled out of court in 1985.
