- American singer and songwriter Philip Blondheim, known as Scott McKenzie, died at the age of 73 in Los Angeles, California, after a two-year battle with Guillain–Barré syndrome. He was best known for his 1967 hit “San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)” and co-wrote The Beach Boys' hit “Kokomo,” which reached No. 1 in 1988.
