- Canadian immigration officials turned back thousands of American fans heading to the Strawberry Fields Rock Festival in Mosport, Ontario, because they lacked sufficient funds for their stay. Approximately 8,000 Americans eventually attended the festival, which featured Alice Cooper, Ten Years After, Grand Funk Railroad, Sly and the Family Stone and The J. Geils Band, among others.
