Duane Allman’s guitar used on the classic Derek and the Dominos song “Layla” was sold at auction for $1 million. It was a 1957 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop, which had been Allman’s main guitar during the first two years of the Allman Brothers Band and appeared on their 1969 debut album as well as the subsequent 1970 album Idlewild South. “Layla” was one of the last recordings on which Allman used this guitar, as he soon traded it for a 1959 Gibson Les Paul.
