Auction events
- Duane Allman’s guitar used on the classic Derek and the Dominos song “Layla” was sold at auction for $1 million. It was a 1957 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop, which had been Allman’s main guitar during the first two years of the Allman Brothers Band and appeared on their 1969 debut album as well as the subsequent 1970 album Idlewild South. “Layla” was one of the last recordings on which Allman used this guitar, as he soon traded it for a 1959 Gibson Les Paul.
- The original 1953 Gibson Les Paul owned by Carl Perkins was offered at auction by GottaHaveRockandRoll.com. Perkins wrote "Blue Suede Shoes" on the instrument and also played it on his recordings for Sun Records; the estimated value was $150,000.
- GottaHaveRockAndRoll offered 24 concert contracts from The Beatles' concerts during their 1964 North American tour for auction. Each document was signed by the band's manager Brian Epstein or NEMS employee Bernard Lee.
