Colonel Parker negotiated with RCA over a new five-year contract. Elvis was to receive a $135,000 advance against 5% royalties and a weekly salary of $1,000. He was also required to make at least ten personal, radio or television appearances to promote his recordings. The contract was signed on October 18.
