- Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground performed together for the final time at the Max's Kansas City club in New York. The performance and other concerts at the club were recorded by Brigid Polk, an associate of Andy Warhol, on a monophonic cassette recorder. The recordings were later released on the album “Live at Max's Kansas City”. Reed subsequently worked for his father for two years for $40 a week before signing a solo contract.
